What I'm Sure is on Everyone's Mind: The Court Battle Over Trump's Travel Ban

For most of us, politically, it's been a very stressful few weeks. Ever since his inauguration, Trump has been busily signing documents upon documents with controversial implications. The most divisive of these so far is his ban on refugees as well as visa holders from seven Muslim-based countries. In an article from the BBC, we discuss the recent ruling by the US 9th Court of Appeals that did not overturn the decision by a Seattle judge that overturned the controversial ban. The court's reasoning behind this decision was simply that the executive branch has not provided enough evidence that these refugees and visa holders posed a legitimate threat to national security. While the president publicly expressed his extreme dissatisfaction with the ruling, he has not yet taken the case to the Supreme Court, which he still can do. Instead, he's commented that a new bill is already in progress, saying, "We'll win that battle. The unfortunate part is it takes time. We'll win that battle. But we also have a lot of other options, including just filing a brand new order." For now, there's no telling where the ban will go from here. However, the article lays the issue out in an easy to understand format and includes an infographic that explains our system of checks and balances, which it seems many have forgotten. For an out of practice government study like myself, the BBC put together a quick and to the point update on one of the nation's current top issues.

I'm learning Korean and refreshing my French in my off time- haha, what off time, you may ask- so I try to throw in some practice whenever I can. I'm excited for this class and this nifty blog I get to make! Annyeong, everyone!
